We hosted Sarah Solomon, Chair of the Seattle King County NAACP Economic Developement Committee, who shared survey research her committee gathered to understand the demographics, needs, and wants of local NAACP members regarding economic development activities. This research will aid in the development of future programming that maximizes member participation.
Since 1909, one of the Black community’s greatest allies has been the NAACP, and recent moves within the Seattle King County Branch shows a recognition of the organization’s interest in putting more emphasis on mechanisms that can narrow the Black wealth gap. The branch is working with the Algonquin Group to extend the NAACP's historic focus around "anti-poverty and jobs initiatives" to include "building and protecting wealth".
